Getting to Andros

There are several ways to get to Andros by ferry, since the island is connected in many ways to the mainland and the surrounding islands. There are no ferries from Piraeus to Andros. Ferries to Andros depart only from the port of Rafina, located 40 km from the center of Athens, and 10 km from the “El. Venizelos” Airport.

The trip from Rafina to Andros takes 2 hours and these ferries also connect Andros to Mykonos and Tinos.

From the Airport to Rafina Port

From the “El. Venizelos” Airport: Buses depart daily from the bus stop between the Exits 2 and 3 of the arrivals hall (opposite Sofitel Hotel). A bus departs approximately every 1 hour from 06:00 am until 21:45 pm. The journey takes about 30 min and the ticket costs 3.00€.

From the center of Athens to Rafina Port

  • Bus (Public Transport): From the center of Athens: Buses to Rafina port depart daily from Mavromataion St. by the “Pedion tou Areos” park. The bus terminal is a 10 minute walk from “Victoria” train station, on metro line 1, through Heyden St. A bus departs every 15 to 45 min depending on the hour, from 5:45 am until 22:30 pm. The journey takes about 1 hour, depending on the traffic, and the ticket costs 2.60€. Schedule on “KTEL Attikis” page.
  • Taxi: The journey from the center of Athens to the port of Rafina is about 50 min to 1 hour depending on the traffic. Alternatively, you can use the metro to “Nomismatokopio” station on Mesogion Avenue and continue by taxi. The cost from Athens to Rafina is about 20-25€ (taxi reservation and suitcases are charged extra).
  • Private car: Access to Rafina port is possible through “Marathonos” Avenue (continuing “Mesogion” Avenue) or via “Attiki Odos”, with direction to Markopoulo following the exit to Rafina. There is a paying parking area operating at the port.

Form Mykonos Airport to Andros

Mykonos, the most popular destination in Greece, has an airport. The airport is located four kilometers from the main town and the port. The Mykonos Andros ferry route is currently operated by 2 ferry companies. The Cyclades Fast Ferries and the Golden Star Ferries service runs up to several times per week with a sailing duration of around 2 hours 15 minutes.
